Millions for net-Zero

There’s been a big numbers boost for the net-zero carbon emissions plan for all the land and buildings owned by Kent County Council by 2030.

Kent’s newly published five-year programme for highway maintenance shows plans for a huge list of improvements for the county’s 5,400 miles of roads. The plan includes resurfacing and preservation for nearly a quarter of them – 1,250 miles.

Travel Card Compensation

There’s financial compensation on offer to families who bought Kent County Council's Travel Saver Card or 16+ Travel Saver Card but couldn’t use it during lockdowns in January and February. Parents who bought a KCC Travel Saver Card will get £100, or £30 if they had a reduced cost pass.

Leaving loneliness behind

The pandemic has increased social isolation and loneliness for many people, particularly the over 65s and Kent County Council has set up a new social prescribing service to help people in four areas to find a way out.
