Katie Lam is the Member of Parliament for the Weald of Kent.
The Weald of Kent was a brand new constituency in the July 2024 General Election, and Katie was elected as its first ever MP. She has previously worked in senior roles in government: in the Home Office, Katie focused on national security (counter terrorism, MI5 oversight and serious organised crime); and in 10 Downing Street, Katie served as Deputy Chief of Staff and head of the Prime Minister’s Business Team.
Katie spent the rest of her career in the private sector. She was Chief of Staff at AI company Faculty, one of the UK’s fastest growing tech companies, and before that spent years of her career at Goldman Sachs, rising from intern to Vice President. She trained as an equity research analyst, and later led teams running various projects, analysis and operations internally. She has built and run successful international teams with large remits and substantial budgets.
Katie is a Governor at Frank Barnes School for Deaf Children and was a Trustee of the Ivors Academy Trust. She is also an award-winning lyricist and scriptwriter, whose work has been performed on West End stages and off-Broadway in New York.
Katie attended comprehensive school Guildford County before studying Classics at Trinity College, Cambridge, where she was President of the Union Society and Chairman of the Conservative Association.
Katie (and her golden retriever, Bailey!) live in Sissinghurst.
