Hello I'm Tony Hills your conservative party candidate for the Romney Marsh division of KCC.
I have lived on the Romney Marsh coast for the last thirty years, I grew up in Richmond-upon-Thames and after a career in Advertising & Marketing I decided to relocate to Greatstone where I spent many happy summers. I have a wife, Patricia and two boys. I started a tackle shop 'Seagull Fishing Tackle' twenty years ago and a blog site committed to promoting Dungeness around the world as the home of modern beach casting.
Believing in our community, I have served on our marsh Town Councils for the last twenty years, I have a deep love of the marsh and its environment. Since as a youngster cycling up to Dungeness to go beach fishing, watching the fishing boats and their special way of life.
I developed a desire to protect the marsh, work for its protection and its historic social infrastructure. I have worked with the EA on a number of projects to improve the marsh sea defences, I currently serve as their appointee on the Harbour of Rye Advisory Committee. I also serve on the Romney Marsh Partnership on behalf of the Rye Partnership working with Shepway and KCC all to improve the economic environment for the wider Romney Marsh.
I have served one term on Shepway Council and I represent them on the Kent Flood Risk Management Committee, my keen interest being flood defence. With so many changes it is vital for 'special' areas like the Marsh to have a strong voice to speak up for them.
