Rory has gained a reputation for speaking up for local residents throughout his time as a Shepway District councillor. Now, he wants to ensure residents’ voices are heard at Kent County Council.
“As a local man with a track record of getting things done, I believe I can be a powerful champion for local residents on important County issues such as the condition of our roads and the funding for adult social care. I’m never afraid to speak out for the residents I serve.”
Rory’s track record includes boosting Shepway’s recycling rate, saving council taxpayers £1.4m per year, cutting waiting times at the Council, and introducing convenient online services.
He has already shown he can influence the County Council for his residents; he recently won agreement for a pedestrian crossing in his ward, enabling residents to cross a main road safely for the first time.
Rory runs his own consultancy, specialising in local government, politics, and campaigning. His previous experience included 12 years delivering training across the UK for a building society. He served for six years as Deputy Chairman of the former Kent Probation Board. He is a trustee of a not-for-profit organisation delivering innovative healthcare workforce development.
He keeps fit by going running every morning, and enjoys attempting to solve the Daily Telegraph’s Kakuro puzzle, as he says: “With occasional success!”
