Candidate in tunbridge_wells for Tunbridge Wells East.
Allow me to introduce myself. I am Paul Barrington-King and I will be standing as the Conservative candidate for Tunbridge Wells East in the Kent County Council elections May 2017.
I began life growing up in a council flat, living with my widowed mother, after my father died when I was just over one year old. I quickly learned that by dint of hard work and ambition I had an opportunity to improve my life ergo the school of ‘hard knocks’! I became a business owner at the age of nineteen and later became a lecturer in Further and Higher education achieving my B.A. Hons. at a mature age through Greenwich University. Raising a family in Pembury, Tunbridge Wells, I was keen to ‘do my bit’ for the community and I became a school governor and a parish councillor. After learning the salient skills at grassroots level I was fortunate to be elected as a borough councillor for Pembury. I was soon made a cabinet member and subsequent roles have seen me Chair the Kent Resource Partnership for four years in succession, steering it to being recognized as the best in the UK, and Vice Chairman of IESE Ltd., a not for profit local government focussed company, that has delivered many hundreds of millions of pounds worth of efficiencies and savings across the UK.
I truly hope that my record demonstrates that with my background along with many years of political experience and achievement at all levels, I am ready for the challenge of being a county councillor for Tunbridge Wells and Kent.
