Candidate in thanet for Cliftonville.
My name is Lesley Game I am a District Councillor living in and representing the Cliftonville East Ward. I am a widow, not really having time for hobbies as I have 6 grandchildren and 2 kittens, who keep me busy! I am Shadow Cabinet member for Community Services and Chair of the QEQM Cabinet Advisory Group. I am not a career politician but someone who is working hard for the community. Having given up my career to care for my husband who sadly died of cancer, I can feel for and understand the difficulties those who are carers face. With 2 daughters and being a grandmother I know the concerns parents have, such as bullying, especially through social media, school places, mental health and discrimination. My elderly father is in a local care home and that’s another experience I have gained how do you find the right home? How do you know your parent is safe and well cared for?
My working life included heading up a Business Development team in the field of education; working in the charitable sector helping young offenders and hard to reach teenagers to return to education or gain employment; and working with the long term unemployed. I also have valuable experience in Business Management, Health and Safety and Human Resources.
As a Councillor I am working to reinstate the bus services in the Palm Bay area and finding a solution to the parking problems. I hold regular surgeries at the library and local primary school, as well as helping those with housing issues and general services in the area.
I am an avid supporter of the Save Manston Airport campaign. As chair of the QEQM Cabinet Advisory Group I am determined that our local hospital’s facilities are always there to serve our community.
I would like to become a County Councillor to continue with my work so far and tackle larger issues for all of Thanet.
