Candidate in tunbridge_wells for Tunbridge Wells West.
My name is James McInroy and I am the Conservative Party candidate for Tunbridge Wells West.
I put my name forward as I wish to improve people’s quality of life, regardless of political views. I passionately believe that public services should always put residents first with as little bureaucracy as possible, delivering quality and excellent value for money.
Being new to local politics I have therefore been meeting with as many councillors and residents as possible to introduce myself and understand the local issues. We will be undertaking a local residents’ survey in January/ February to understand these issues further and how they affect the quality of life locally.
After graduating from university I qualified as an accountant and spent thirty years in business. As a trainee accountant I specialised in small to medium-sized businesses, obtaining a good understanding of business and the issues involved. After qualifying I worked for several large commercial organisations in publishing, printing, media and latterly in the electricity industry. As a senior manager with UK Power Networks my responsibilities were for the reporting of business performance.
In the past few years I have renovated my house and project-managed the build of my new home.
I have two grown-up children who attended local grammar schools and who now live and work in London.
My interests include spending time with family and friends, travel and sports, having been a keen squash and tennis player, although now I am more likely to be seen walking the dog, updating the family history or working in the garden.
