Candidate in tonbridge_and_malling for Malling Rural West.
I am the candidate for Malling West and have lived in Wrotham for the past 33 years. I have been active in local government either as a Parish or Tonbridge & Malling Borough Councillor, with a strong record as aa vigorous countryside campaigner. As Chairman of the Tonbridge & Malling District Committee of the Campaign for the Protection of Rural England 2009-2014 I jointly lead the campaigns to protect our Greenbelt from encroachment by a huge block works and more recently to protect dedicated modern social housing at St George’s Court Wrotham from demolition. As Vice Chairman of the Kent Association of Local Councils, I continue to campaign vigorously for a full motorway interchange with the M25 to greatly improve the quality of life for the residents of Borough Green, Ightham and St Mary’s Platt by providing relief from existing heavy traffic, particularly HGVs, along the A25 through these villages.
I intend to use my long experience and contacts to improve local services and in particular local roads. I am a countryside champion and oppose inappropriate mineral extraction in Malling West. If elected, I will bring the full resources of KCC to complete my campaign to rid local residents of the harmful environmental impact of inappropriate HGV ‘fly parking’ along the A20 and A227 corridors. I support the establishment of new grammar schools.
Now retired, I was a shipowner and ship broker with offices in Kent and London. Married to Audrey for over forty years, with two adult daughters who now work and reside in the Midlands.
